The School

The International School Winterthur is an authorized IBO PYP school and offers the Primary Years Programme and is in the process of obtaining MYP authorisation.

Information technology is deemed important and computers are available for student use. The students are actively encouraged to use them for pleasure and research.

Curriculum-based school trips take place during the terms and all students participate in an activities week in September.

Parent/teacher consultations are held regularly during the year, and four progress reports are issued during the school year.

The first major fundraising event for our school, the Spring Benefit, was first held in May 2006. This annual event will now be held every Spring, each with a different theme. The event features both silent and live auctions with dinner and dancing. This fundraiser gives ISW the opportunity to purchase extra items over and above the operational budget, for example the 3 interactive white boards that are now in use.

Lunch

Children can either bring a packed lunch from home or take advantage of the catering service we offer. Lunches from home can be heated in one of our microwaves. It is recommended that children bring a snack and a drink for the morning break.

Transportation Service

We contract with a local taxi company to transport students whose families desire them to be driven. Rates are determined on location of homes.

Insurance

Parents are expected to obtain health, accident and liability insurance for their children. The school's insurance does not provide coverage for students.
